It's an exciting time for the independent artist with Cyber PR, digital distribution leading the market as the "new" way of doing things in the music business, which has changed the face of the Music Industry. I just read the current edition of the Billboard published "Start & Run Your Own Record label" by Schwartz and it really lays out the facts, figures and opportunities available to music artists that never existed before. Amazing how tools of the trade have become more accessible for aspiring music artists in just a few short years and just how much the fans are the true supporters, real employers of these artists - no longer just the Majors.
Myspace Music, Facebook and websites like ReverbNation are providing a platform for FANS to be heard and to have some control over which artists they would like to help catapult towards success....and for the artists themselves to utilize the many tools to help them make sales, gain exposure, guidance and the chance to really play a role in the future of this music business.
It's an exciting time to be involved in making and offering music to the World.
